Gyp the Egyptian goose! He can’t fly due to angel wing (a slipped tendon in the wing), but seems perfectly happy roaming around the garden, he has his little island with is hutch and a little pond put in especially for him. He’s even befriended some of the ravens who pass him some of their food through the aviary bars!

A pretty cool thing happened today. We released two young starlings this morning, both of which were nice and wild and didn’t seem to enjoy human company. Anyway one came back to the garden this afternoon, I spotted him and sat near by. He then took off and flew towards me, at which point I think he realised that he couldn’t land anywhere but my shoulder. Every time I turned my head to look at him he ran to the other shoulder! Anyway, I got up, he flew off my shoulder and I went to get him some mealworms. came outside with a handful and then this! (: He filled himself up and then off he went! Just came back for a free lunch! It was lovely and unexpected!

This is Quin the magpie chick. The tree his nest was in feel in a storm, killing his siblings ): some kind soul found him the next morning hanging from the branches of the tree so they brought him to us. He’s legs aren’t as strong as they should be but he’s making good progress with regular exercise (:
